Hi everyone, I had a lot of questions the other day about how I framed the intaglios for my house, so I thought I would do a little post, sharing what I did. I must confess that I am not the best with DIY projects, but I was happy with how these turned out and how easy they were. I experimented with how to make them so by no means is this probably the correct way to make them, but I thought I would go ahead and share since I was happy with how it turned out.
All the supplies I used are linked at the very bottom of the post. Just double click on the items' picture and it will take you to the link to purchase it!
Supplies:
- 11"x14" Frame
- 8"x10" White Mat
- 5"x 7" White Mat
- Gorilla Super Glue
- Double Sided Foam Mounting Tape
- Textured Cardstock Paper (I used the color Eggshell)
- Intaglio Gem Medallions (from Etsy)
Below I listed out the steps I took to make the intaglios:
Place the 5"x7" mat centered on the cardstock paper. Center the intaglio medallion in the center of the mat.
2. Secure the 5"x7" mat onto the paper using the double sided foam mounting tape on all four sides of the mat. I only used one piece of mounting tape per side; however, if you want the mat to be raised higher for the intaglio, you can add another piece on top of the first piece. Once the mat is secure, use the gorilla glue to secure the intaglio on the paper, which will be centered on the mat.
3. Next, remove the back of the 11"x14" frame and place the 8"x10" mat in the frame.
4. Now, place the cardstock paper (with the 5"x7" mat and intaglio secured) face down in the frame. Once you have centered the paper in the 8"x10" mat, glue the front and very top part of the 5"x7" mat to the back of the 8"x10" mat.
5. Next, cut two more strips of the mounting foam tape. Both pieces of tape will be placed on the side of the paper that is face down in the frame. Place the tape on the top and bottom part of the paper that are outside of the 5"x7" mat then attach the tape to the back of the 8"x10" mat. Part of the tape should be exposed. Since the exposed part is sticky, I placed the paper backing that comes on the tape back on that part (as pictured below).
6. After that, secure the back of the frame back on and your intaglio is ready to be hung!
As I mentioned earlier, all the items I used are linked below; however, feel free to choose different frames, paper color, etc. to make it fit your home!
I hope this is a helpful tool for you. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me or email me!
